This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Pine-Sol and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions expressed are all my own.
To recognize and celebrate the amazing women among us, the makers of Pine-Sol® products have teamed up with actress and activist Rosie Perez to launch the ‘When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It’ campaign. As part of the campaign, Pine-Sol® awarded a $25,000 donation to Women Empowered, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring them to give back to their communities. They gave us the opportunity to share our own stories of triumph and I am here to share mine.
All of us have been through things that we have to overcome and just take the bull by the horns. I remember one time when my mother passed out in the doctor’s office, the nurses called the hospital because the condition she was in was leaving her pale and dehydrated. They asked me if I wanted to go but the emergency vehicle was too full, so I had taken my mothers car. At the time I had my learners and have not driven by myself at all. So naturally I was a bit insecure and terrified to drive it myself since I did not have alot of experience. The thing was, I was in a place I did not know, if you live in Miami you know the traffic and how its one huge maze. So I was in an unfamiliar place off the highway in Miami with a learners permit. Needless to say my palms were getting sweaty, I called everyone that I knew to come and pick me up if they could. But everyone was either not in town or still at work.
At that point I knew I had to drive myself home and pickup my brother to go see my mom and see how she was doing. I just said a little prayer got in the car and started driving. It took me an hour to get home because I was in gridlock traffic! During this whole time my brother knew how scared I was so he decided to call me and keep my calm. I put the phone on the passenger seat on speaker phone, and he just kept speaking to me as I told him where I was at since he has taken this route before, he guided me to my destination.
Needless to say I made it home thanks to my brother coaching me and keeping me calm on the road, we went to our mother at the ER and she was doing much better. To some people this my have not been a big deal, but to me it was I did something that I felt totally uncomfortable doing and was terrified while doing it. I have learned that you have to do things, even if you are afraid to face your fears, and that day I did! I am proud to say I overcame my fear. Do what you fear most and you control fear.~Tom Hopkins

Well at least that’s the case for myself. I Only shop in the clearance rack or when there is a sale i cannot pass up. It is possible to shop for fashionable clothing on a budget. And i’m here to help and give tips on how to achieve this. I want to show that you can still be a Fierce and Fabulous Curvy Gal on a thrift store budget.
