It has been sixty years in the making and it’s finally here!! Plus size models finally are on the prestigious NYFW runway. The designer who made history is Eden Miller, she showed her spring/summer 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week: She’s the first plus-size designer to show her collection at the Lincoln Center tents! How amazing is this news?! In this fashion industry where smaller figures are praised and fuller ones are shunned. Eden Miller was unafraid sending out curvaceous models to rock the runway in her mini collection full of color and prints.

Her line Cabiria was chosen by the Fashion Law Institute to be a part of its showcase during the spring runways. She’s one of six designers chosen to show their pieces. Miller says that being a plus size designer had nothing to do with her slot in the lineup. “It just happened to be that they liked my stuff,” she said of being chosen for the showcase. “It didn’t matter that I’m doing plus.”
“Eden Miller is an award winning costume designer and wardrobe stylist, and the designer of Cabiria. Cabiria was born out of a desire to bring whimsy, sensuality and luxury to the plus size world”
Lest we forget the models who also made history by being the first Plus Sized models to ever walk NYFW! EVER!! I can’t even believe I am writing this! Two of the models names are Victoria Lee and Frances Cordova just to name a few.

Here are just a few pieces from her Cabiria Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, I can see why she was chosen to show her line in NYFW!
What are your thoughts about Plus Size Models finally gracing the New York Fashion Week runway? What do you think may happen? Will this change anything in the fashion industry, to be more accepting of fuller figures? Will this help the fashion world accept that Plus Size consumers want designer clothing as well available in their sizes? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

My Name is Violet i am a Fashion/Beauty Blogger I’ve blogged for more than 3years. I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York,i have spent 15 years in South Beach,Florida. I started blogging about Fashion and Beauty, plus events i attend frequently around the USA. As a Plus size or Curvy girl its hard to find nice clothing on a budget. Well at least that’s the case for myself. I Only shop in the clearance rack or when there is a sale i cannot pass up. It is possible to shop for fashionable clothing on a budget. And i’m here to help and give tips on how to achieve this. I want to show that you can still be a Fierce and Fabulous Curvy Gal on a thrift store budget.

These clothes are horrendous! How is she the designer to show at the tents? She has the same dress for spring 13 as she showed for spring 14 it’s clear she was not ready for this opportunity. I hope she did not ruin it for the other plus size designers that really design real clothes.

I don’t agree, I really love the collection. Its to each his own I guess. You may not like the style or design but others do. I’m sure they wouldn’t have picked her if it was that bad. NYFW is very very peticular when it comes to choosing designers for their shows. Its really all about preference and you don’t prefer these designs which is fine, I know you will find a clothing line you like. Modcloth is amazing they have tons of dresses there with no prints if you prefer that. If you know any designers you enjoy please let me know I would love to check them out.
