Q: How did you start modeling?
A: Just over 4 years ago, while I was shopping, a store manager asked if I had ever thought about plus modeling, and then asked if I would like to participate in their fashion
show. I enjoyed walking in their fashion show so much, I looked into plus modeling, and got into it, setting up photo shoots with local photographers and local designers.
Q: What is your dream modeling job?
A: My dream modeling job is not exactly a certain gig: my dream is to simply be apart of this incredible movement, and help bring change to this industry. I want to help the next generation of girls and women to not feel pressured over their size. I want the next generation to not deal with bullying. If I can help with that with my modeling, my dream, my goals, have been achieved.

Q: When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your
favorite things to do?
A: Writing short stories. I don’t really publish them, I write simply for the love of it. Naturally, I have a love for reading as well. Though I enjoy pretty much anything, I absolutely love reading fiction. To me, there is nothing like getting into a well told story. I also enjoy dance and color guard: (Color Guard is dancing while using a flag, rifle and saber).
Q: Do you feel like it’s harder to get work because you are
Plus sized?
A: My opinion on this question is naturally bias: I am a plus model…a curvier plus model at that. And yes, I do feel it is harder to land jobs due to my size. But these issues arise with any model…even ‘straight’ sized models. Modeling is a business. You are hired for your abilities to sell a product and/or message. At each casting, there is a certain ‘look’ they are going for, and size is only one of those specific looks that can either land you the job, or not. Sometimes it will be your hair color that makes you lose the gig. Sometimes it will be the way you smile, or your eye color, or your height, or your general skill… Either way, as a model, you face the word ‘no’ all the time. Sometimes it’s due to size. But not every time. Either way, as a model, you need to shrug it off, and keep working hard!

Q:What do you love about fashion?
A: Fashion is art you wear, self expression literally worn on your sleeves. We all wish to choose our favorite colors, our favorite shapes on our bodies. We all appreciate how a great outfit makes us feel when we wear them. Though many of us still have a hard time finding fashion for our bodies, we all wish to express ourselves. Fashion gives us that ability with its diversity, creativity and its ability to evolve.
Q:High Heels or Flats?
A: Heels. I have flats…don’t get me wrong! I own many cute flats that I wear regularly. But heels, I have a deep love for a cute pump. Far too many times I have gone into a store to buy a new pair of flats, and instead walked away with a pair of heels.

Q:Who are your Favorite designers?
A:Yikes. Tough question. I have a pretty eclectic taste, so choosing certain designers over others it tough. I love Torrid, Lane Bryant, City Chic, ASOS, Custom Plus, Abi and Lois, Youtheary Khmer, Betty Jean Couture, Cult of California, IGIGI, Rachel Pally, Items by Tina Marie, …I really could go on and on.
Q:What are your top beauty essentials?
A:Moisturizer is key for me. I really enjoy ACTZ: they have some awesome vegan beauty products that are organic and gentle on the skin. I have found a new, deep love for fake
lashes: nothing makes your eyes ‘pop’ like gorgeous, noticeable lashes.

Q:If you were stranded on a Deserted island what two fashion and beauty items would you bring and why?
A: My ACTS moisturizer and one of my favorite high-waist skirts. If you have healthy, happy skin, makeup is not nearly as important. And I absolutely love me a high waist skirt: change out what top you wear with it and you have so many outfit options!

Q: What can you tell girls or women out there about having a good self-esteem?
A: Having self-esteem and confidence requires work. Be brutally honest with yourself, accept who you are: the good and the bad. Understand there will be days where you feel your best, and other days where you don’t. It’s what we do, when we feel low, that determines how quickly we bounce back. Know who you are, accept it, and never lie to yourself. Know what you want and go for it.

Well at least that’s the case for myself. I Only shop in the clearance rack or when there is a sale i cannot pass up. It is possible to shop for fashionable clothing on a budget. And i’m here to help and give tips on how to achieve this. I want to show that you can still be a Fierce and Fabulous Curvy Gal on a thrift store budget.
