I blogged a while ago about an amazing and talented Designer, Lisa Nieves from Puerto Rico. She talked about how she designed for Plus Size ladies and loved seeing their reaction when they tried on her designs, feeling glamorous and sexy. Designer Nieves is very well known and respected in Puerto Rico, bringing to Top Fashion Shows beautiful designs, among other accomplishments.
Many wonderful things have happened to her. She moved to Florida and competed in the Orlando Fashion Week Design challenge in November 2015, making her the winner. The Designer presented two collections Spring-Summer 2016 “Something New” on April 8th 2016 at the beautiful Baterby’s Art Gallery in Orlando Florida.
This collection is inspired in weddings that go by the superstitious quotes such as “Something borrowed”, “Something blue” and “Something New” that are passed by generations to the beautiful brides. The pieces have a vintage feel, using colors as white, pearl, bridal blue and nude tones. The fabric selections were beautiful hand embroidered lace, tulle, soft satin and mesh. This is the designer’s first bridal inspired collection, therefore the name “Something New”.
Her Fall-Winter Collection 2016-17 “Step into my world” was presented on April 9th 2016. A collection with an edgy, yet feminine touch. Lisa invites everyone to see the world through her eyes with eye catching silhouettes, cuts, appliques and lace work.
The collection is true to winter tones using burgundy’s, blacks, winter whites and of course red, This is a perfect description of who she is as a designer, a versatile and creative designer who has the capacity to work any textile.
Designer Nieves has many projects in the works one being a Curvy one for Fall-Winter 2016-17… and this was music to my ears. Check out her work here.
