Mica Oh is a lovely young woman on a mission, she is the founder of Peepers Denmark, and started the organization in 2011. I heard about a great Campaign she is organizing and contacted her, here is what she told me about this amazing campaign.
“I decided to do curvy fashion after I had been working in the music and fashion industry for over 2 decades, and could see the fashion environment didn’t evolve with the consumers need in Scandinavia and the rest of the world, even some parts of the world are much more ahead.
One of the things I noticed was the lack of the respect around the models and wondered why the industry treated the ones that are the majority with so little respect and played hazard with these poor young girls health.I couldn’t be a part of that, so I started Peepers Denmark, were I promote healthy and curvy fashion.
Peepers Denmark, are first movers in Denmark/Scandinavia were we have made the first show during Copenhagen Fashion Week, with curvy models on the catwalk, in which we are very proud of. Curvy Supermodels is my idea and love the way it sounds.. It sounds healthy and womanly. Everybody can identify with a curvy womanly body and everybody wants to live a healthy life.
I want the fashion industry to evolve in that direction, so I created that platform. I don´t ask if I can play along or get accepted.. I don’t feel the need for that, I feel the need to meet the consumers needs, so I decided to make this campaign because we felt a need for it. Curvy models are here to stay in the fashion world and recognized more often in the fashion industry, but not enough – we need a more healthy fashion industry, so we will fight! WE REPRESENT CURVES.
Some people have asked me why we call the campaign Supermodels. We do it because being curvaceous is fashion. The statement that ‘fashion is only for some people’ – that is rubbish! Fashion is for everyone, no matter size! Designers, magazines, ads – all depend on the consumer, the ‘decision maker’ in society. They all demand to be inspired to be able to spend money.
All women have curves, some more than others, some less. Curvy women are the future, also in fashion. Curvy is fashionable. All women love fashion. Fashion is made for women. Get inspired, spread the word. Commit to a healthy fashion industry. Support us – support to an industry that all of us can identify with.
At Peepers Denmark we feel the need and want to celebrate not only women, we also need to remember why we love working in this industry, why we love to be creative and why we love doing it.. We do it because we love to get challenged, to inspire people, love the feeling of satisfaction from the consumer, feel the energy of them asking for more and there need for more. Without the consumer creativity is nothing, without listener, users or buyers.. Nothing!
CSM is going to be a worldwide campaign, with curvy models from all over the world and where the focus is health, diversity in beauty and fashion. Our goal is to give an opportunity to the consumer, so they can experience that fashion is much more than what they know or think they know.
We also want to promote the models in the campaign in a way, where they all are “just” models or referred to as a curvy model. We think at Peepers Denmark that the models deserve to be respected by the fashion industry, and we are doing the campaign because we think curvy is the right word to use, for their work and status as a new generation of models – Supermodels.. The models in CSM are in our world, the models who are leading the way for a lot of young, healthy, potential and hopeful young models..
The campaign will let viewers and followers be inspired by some inspiring people – Curvy Women, Curvy Supermodels. These women want you to get to know them better – and we love that idea. They will introduce you to their everyday life – at work and what they stand for. They are just like you and I. We present to you women who work as models. They represent curves. They represent PEEPERS DENMARK.”
Let’s join Micha Oh on her mission and spread her message uniting our Curvy Community all over the world.
