I am so happy to see that Mindy Kaling landed her first major magazine cover on the February’s issue of Elle. The cover is one of four for the “Women in Television” issue, also featuring Amy Poehler, Zooey Deschanel, and Allison Williams. Alot of buzz has surrounded the Kaling cover and many have applauded the fact that she is on the cover. I couldn’t agree more, I am a huge fan of Mindy Kaling! I mean she is smart, funny, beautiful and talented what more can you ask for? She has a super funny and witty comedy on FOX called “The Mindy Project” and has a wardrobe to die for! Ok, i’m getting carried away here.. aren’t I?
Anywho, I also can see why others may have a bit of a problem with it. As we all know with alot of fashion magazine covers, they crop and photoshop away what they consider “imperfections” so many times we all have lost count. I mean this isn’t the first time Elle has come under fire for cropping away their cover models who are more “fuller” than the norm.
Just last year there was a big controversy with Melissa Mccarthy cover and how they covered her with that big o’l jacket “Which I thought was amazing by the way” and Gabourey sidibe was made lighter, cropped and shopped the list can go on here..
The fact that Elle cropped Kaling’s body out almost completely, all we get is her face is what every is up in arms about. While Poehler, Williams, and Deschanel all displayed about 75% of their whole bodies, Kaling didn’t even get a whole torso which is a bit sad. But for all we know Kaling could have been the one to choose this photo out of the ones they took of her, she could have even directed the shoot. This cover seems soooo Mindy, it’s very glamorous yet mysterious gives me a Casablanca,Vintage, Old Hollywood feel. I just love how her look is very simple yet elegant and flawless. As I suspected Mindy Kaling is so cool with the cover and even responded her in own way about the controversy over the cover.
I love my @ELLEmagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.

Elle even respond to this:
Elle stands by its cover treatment, telling E! News in a statement, “Mindy looks sexy, beautiful and chic. We think it is a striking and sophisticated cover and are thrilled to celebrate her in our Women in TV Issue.”
Nevertheless this cover shows how beautiful Mindy Kaling is and how far she has come as a writer, actress and role model. What do you think of this cover and the controversy surrounding it? Sound off in the comments!
My Name is Violet i am a Fashion/Beauty Blogger I’ve blogged for more than 3years. I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York,i have spent 15 years in South Beach,Florida. I started blogging about Fashion and Beauty, plus events i attend frequently around the USA. As a Plus size or Curvy girl its hard to find nice clothing on a budget. Well at least that’s the case for myself. I Only shop in the clearance rack or when there is a sale i cannot pass up. It is possible to shop for fashionable clothing on a budget. And i’m here to help and give tips on how to achieve this. I want to show that you can still be a Fierce and Fabulous Curvy Gal on a thrift store budget.
Curves a la mode says
I completely agree with you Violet I think it’s a phenomenal cover. Mindy is definitely never shy about her curves but once in a while a woman likes to change it up. And by her tweets today it seems she’s very happy with the cover.
