What does the family of today mean to me? It means something brand new and different from the normal. I was raised by my mother because at a young age my father was not around. So my mother had to be both parents for my brother and I and I am forever grateful my mom took that role. She made my brother and I strong-minded individuals. Some may think that having one parent is not traditional but in many homes it is. Every family is different this day and age, some may have two dads or two mom’s, some have traditions that are passed down generation to generation but some make new ones. I have alot of traditions in my family because I am Cuban and Dominican American, I was born In the USA. So my traditions are more a mix of all three cultures. That means my family is very different from others out there and I love that so much. I love having the best of both worlds and making new traditions and embracing the old ones with my Cuban & Dominican family. Many people in the USA are getting ready to celebrate Christmas but myself and many other Hispanics, are getting ready to celebrate Noche Buena. Which we partake in a big family dinner and with great company. This is how many families are different we all celebrate holidays or life events differently which I find pretty amazing.
To me “La Familia De hoy” is a family who doesn’t mind making new traditions and embracing the old traditions as well.

I picked the Olivera family I felt like I shared the same family values as they did and they came from a mixed family background which I can identify with.
A very international family, with a passion for culture and sport. Milena, mom is Brazilian, but lived for many years in El Salvador and speaks perfect Spanish.Roberto, dad is Peruvian / American, he owns his own business, player of semi-professional football and also coach of her twins, Lucas and Ana Luiza (7).Younger family members are Matteo (1) and a baby born in March 2014. Did we like most of Olivera? They are a very loving and modern family with a passion for football. Milena (Mom) Roberto (Dad) Lucas (7) (Son) Ana Luiza (7) (Daughter) Matteo (1) (Baby) New Baby (March 2014)
