Blogger Marta Rivera covers FFFW in New York for INtense Magazine

 

Attending Full Figured Fashion Week 2013 in New York was amazing. I was invited to cover the event for INtense Magazine and it was such an honor, I also went to support one of our Plus Models from Puerto Rico Ana Garcia who was chosen to model at this prestigious event.

It was a busy week, when I arrived I had a meeting with Designer Cenia Paredes, her Atelier is just beautiful at the Fashion District of New York City, she showed me some of her new designs and talked about her future plans, family, we had an amazing time.

I also had the honor of meeting an amazing photographer and beautiful model Lily Cummings, Plus Model Ana Garcia was doing a shoot with her and I tagged along, I was at awe with her work, just beautiful.

My next stop was at the White Cruise, everyone looked amazing all dressed in white, we were greeted by Executive Producer Gwen Devoe, so charming and elegant. Jewelry Designer Grisel Barrios from Puerto Rico sent her a gift and she just loved it. I sat with Terri Herlihy from Project Runway, we talked so much about her experience on the show, her family, I felt I had known her forever.

Meeting the amazing Sharon Quinn was also one of the highlights of my night, she also loved the gift from Designer Barrios….The beautiful Rosie Mercado was also there looking fabulous as well as the other ladies. On Thursday it was the Bloomindale’s Fashion Show, they chose twelve of the models to walk that runway, we got the royal treatment, champagne, wine, appetizers, and an amazing Fashion Show which was covered by Univision TV.

On Friday I headed to the Indie Designer Runway Show at the Broad Street Ballroom, I said hi to Madeline Jones, I so love her and she looked so beautiful, I also met Farrah Estrella, President of Estrella Fashion Report, we hit it off right away, she is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet.

 

They had a full house, the amazing Glamazons performed, we all loved them, the models rocked it, they were all amazing. The final Fashion Show Retailers/Boutiques was also at the Broad Street Ballroom, again a full house, the fantastic Thixotix dance troupe performed, loved them.

I got to say hi to the beautiful models Allison McGevna, and Griselangel Paula, among others, at this Fashion Show awards were given to the best model agency, best photographer and plus model….the Fashion Show was wonderful the models were amazing.

The after party was great, everyone was having a wonderful time talking about one of the most amazing weeks they had ever had…Gwen Devoe promised a great event and she came through, FFFW in New York is one of the most prestigious fashion events of the year.
